Trump signs housing affordability executive order
On Thursday, President Donald Trump enacted an executive order designed to make homeownership more affordable, just under two weeks before the midterm elections, which have been heavily influenced by concerns regarding housing costs.
This executive order is based on a draft that was previously disclosed by POLITICO and instructs several federal agencies to take measures aimed at lowering mortgage expenses and promoting the growth of manufactured housing.
The White House emphasized the significance of homeownership, stating, “Homeownership is a vital pillar of our great Nation, and President Trump and his Administration are working tirelessly to cut burdensome costs and red tape to make the American dream of homeownership more affordable for all Americans.”
This initiative comes at a time when the housing market is experiencing a slowdown and lending costs are on the rise. The increasing expenses associated with housing have become a prominent issue during this election cycle, reflecting the economic frustrations felt by numerous voters.
