Ahead of Kinus, 18 New Communities Join the Fastest-Growing Shlichus
As preparations are underway for the International Kinus Hashluchim in Crown Heights, Chabad Young Professionals (CYP) is celebrating a significant achievement in its global outreach, with 18 new communities recently joining its expanding network. This initiative is part of the broader Shlichus movement, which is gaining traction worldwide.
Chabad Young Professionals, a division of Merkos 302, has rapidly evolved into a network of over 350 centers across six continents, focusing on engaging Jewish individuals in their 20s and 30s. The addition of these new communities highlights the increasing interest among young professionals for meaningful Jewish connections.
New CYP chapters have been established in various international cities, including Munich, Germany; Milan, Italy; and Lyon and Marseille in France. In the United States, fresh chapters have appeared in Fort Wayne, Indiana; Des Moines, Iowa; El Paso, Texas; and Jacksonville, Florida. Additionally, new locations have emerged in Panama City, Panama, and Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.
What started in 2014 with just a few pioneering Shluchim has transformed into a global network that is significantly influencing Jewish life for an entire generation. “The Rebbe’s model is unique because it puts Shluchim on the frontlines,” noted Rabbi Mendy Kotlarsky, Executive Director of Merkos 302. “They witness the evolution of Jewish life and respond accordingly. When young professionals were being overlooked, Shluchim recognized this gap and established CYP, which has since become the fastest-growing sector in Shlichus.”
The necessity for such initiatives is evident. Young professionals find themselves at a pivotal point in their lives, embarking on careers, choosing partners, and starting families. These formative years are crucial, influencing not only personal trajectories but also the future of the Jewish community. By providing warmth, authenticity, and vision, CYP Shluchim are fostering environments where Jewish traditions are embraced with pride and joy.
The rising interest in Jewish community and connection is also reflected in the enthusiastic response to the upcoming CYP Encounter in Crown Heights, scheduled for January 15–17, 2027 (7–9 Shevat). Registration for this international Shabbaton has already surpassed last year's initial figures by threefold, showcasing the eagerness of young Jewish professionals to engage with a broader Jewish community.
The CYP Encounter serves as a platform for young professionals worldwide to experience the strength of a global Jewish network while strengthening the bonds they have formed with their local Shluchim.
Another notable aspect of CYP's influence is the Met@Chabad initiative, which focuses on dating. Shluchim across the globe take on roles as dating coaches, matchmakers, and mentors, organizing specialized Encounter Shabbatons, offering relationship courses based on Torah teachings, and guiding young Jews toward establishing meaningful relationships and Jewish homes.
Motivated by the Rebbe’s call to create enduring Jewish homes, Met@Chabad equips Shluchim with essential tools, trained matchmakers, a values-oriented matching algorithm, and a worldwide network to assist young Jews in navigating the dating landscape with intention and clarity.
The expansion of CYP underscores the immense potential to reach young Jews at a critical juncture in their lives when decisions regarding identity, relationships, and community can shape their futures for years to come. As Shluchim from around the world prepare for the Kinus Hashluchim, the ongoing growth of CYP emphasizes both the rising demand for young professional communities and the commitment of Shluchim to fulfill that demand.
From major urban centers to smaller Jewish communities, the message is clear: young Jewish professionals are in search of connection, significance, and a community to call their own. With more Shluchim recognizing this opportunity and joining the CYP network, the next chapter in this rapidly expanding frontier of Shlichus is already beginning to unfold.
