Iconic Triangle House Angles Its Way Back Onto the Market in Buffalo for Under $500K

A distinctive triangular house in Buffalo, New York, known as the Triangle House, has re-entered the real estate market with a new price tag of $479,000. This striking structure, designed by artist Ben Perrone, first gained attention when it was built in 2020 and was initially listed for $760,000 in April 2023.

Commonly referred to as the Christmas Tree House, the property experienced a significant price reduction of $60,000 just two months after its initial listing. It was taken off the market in July 2023 but resurfaced in July 2026 for $550,000 before being listed again in September. Now, with its current price, it aims to attract potential buyers who appreciate its unique architectural style.

Britt Konczyk, a listing agent with MJ Peterson Real Estate, highlighted the rarity of such modern construction in the area, stating, "We don't have a lot of new construction in this area, let alone something so modern and architecturally unique. Most of the homes around here were built in the 1900s, so it's a really unique style."

The Triangle House spans 2,403 square feet and features a range of modern amenities, including solar panels. Inside, it boasts a contemporary design with unique elements like a dining room featuring a custom-built triangular table and a retro kitchen equipped with a repurposed school sink and built-in oven. "The owner came up with the outside shape and worked with an architect, Kevin Connors of eco_logic STUDIO, on the design," Konczyk explained. "He spent about $800,000 to build it, and it was originally listed at a higher price point for the neighborhood. It was reduced, and now it's at the right price point."

The open-concept layout includes a striking cantilevered staircase adorned with copper spindles and railings, along with a glass elevator inspired by a time capsule. This elevator and staircase lead to a spacious upstairs primary suite that offers enough room for a sitting area or a home office. "It was used as a primary residence and would be cool as a rental property, but there is a process to go through to use it as a short-term rental," Konczyk noted.

In addition to its eye-catching design, the energy-efficient home is equipped with a solar panel system. "From the outside, it doesn't look like it has a lot of light, but it does," Konczyk remarked. "It's also unique to have a personal elevator in a private residence."

The property features a fieldstone patio that overlooks a heated and air-conditioned garage, which was originally intended to serve as an art studio for the seller. "The property would work great for an artist to use as a home base," Konczyk added.

Beyond its architectural appeal, the Triangle House's location in the Golden Horseshoe region near Lake Ontario, which includes attractions like Niagara Falls and Toronto, is expected to draw interest from potential buyers. "I think it could be someone from out of state," Konczyk said. "A lot of people are moving to larger markets for work and then moving back to where they grew up, to be closer to family or find more affordable housing. We are used to snow here, for sure, but there are not a lot of natural disasters, which makes this area attractive."

As the Triangle House continues to make waves in the Buffalo real estate market, its unique design and prime location may prove to be key factors in finding a new owner.
