Top 4 Crypto Stocks to Watch This Week: BitMine, Strategy, Strive, BitGo - Strategy (NASDAQ:MSTR), Strive
In recent days, major cryptocurrency stocks have faced challenges as leading digital currencies like Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH), and XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) have retreated from their September peaks. This week, attention turns to several prominent crypto-related stocks, including BitMine (NASDAQ:BMNR), Strategy (NASDAQ:MSTR), Strive (NASDAQ:ASST), and BitGo (NYSE:BTGO).
Focusing on Strategy, the company's stock has experienced a downturn, dropping 10% from its September high. This decline has paralleled Bitcoin's fall from a peak of $87,200 to approximately $83,000. As the company prepares to disclose its latest Bitcoin acquisitions, CEO Michael Saylor has suggested that more purchases may be on the horizon, expressing there is always room for "more orange." Strategy remains the largest Bitcoin holder globally, with a total of 848,000 coins valued at over $70 billion. The value of its Bitcoin holdings has significantly increased from a year-to-date low of around $49 billion. Additionally, Strategy is utilizing its recently raised capital to buy back its own shares in an effort to enhance its stock value.
Strive, linked to entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, will also be in the spotlight this week as it updates investors on its Bitcoin purchases. In its previous announcement, the company revealed it had acquired an additional 2,000 Bitcoin at a price of $84,422 each, costing roughly $169 million. This purchase was financed through its preferred stock vehicle, SATA. Strive has quickly emerged as one of the largest Bitcoin holders, now owning 29,462 coins valued at over $2.4 billion. The stock has surged more than 285% from its lowest point this year.
BitMine, led by Tom Lee, has seen its stock price decline sharply, falling from a September high of $28.8 to $24 amid a drop in Ethereum's value from $2,806 to $2,540. The company is currently preparing to release its Ethereum acquisition report for the previous week. In its last update, BitMine mentioned that it continued to expand its Ethereum holdings, now totaling 6,016,414 coins, which constitutes about 4.9% of its total assets. The firm is expected to reach a 5% threshold soon and plans to shift its focus towards generating revenue through staking, ceasing the dilution of shareholder value through additional stock sales.
BitGo, a significant player in the cryptocurrency custody sector, has witnessed its stock price plummet by over 70% from its all-time high, with its market capitalization shrinking from $2.14 billion to approximately $861 million. The company is currently embroiled in a $141 million legal dispute with World Liberty Financial, a project associated with the Trump family. DWF Maas and Falcon Digital have filed a lawsuit against BitGo, alleging that the company violated contractual agreements by selling WLFI tokens before the end of a stipulated lock-up period. Despite these challenges, BitGo reported a 79.6% increase in revenue for the second quarter, totaling $4.32 billion, although it posted a net loss of $19 million compared to a $38.3 million profit during the same quarter the previous year.
As these companies navigate fluctuating markets and legal hurdles, investors will be closely monitoring their movements and strategies in the evolving cryptocurrency landscape.
