Is Ethereum a Buy Under $2,400? We Asked Grok AI

According to Grok AI, a predictive model developed by xAI, Ethereum (ETH) is not a worthwhile investment at its current price below $2,400. Grok cites a 65% confidence level in this assessment, recommending $2,000 as a more favorable entry point and identifying $1,850 as a strong buy area. As of now, ETH is trading at approximately $2,408, reflecting an 11% decline over the course of the month. This price is also below its 20-day moving average of $2,491 and its 50-day average of $2,548, indicating that many recent investors may be facing losses.

Despite this downturn, the October lows for ETH were recorded at $2,313 and $2,357, which are considerably higher than the yearly low of $1,505 observed on June 6. This raises the question of whether $2,400 is a reasonable entry point or if Grok's lower target may be more realistic.

Currently, Ethereum maintains a market capitalization of $294.3 billion, based on its price and a circulating supply of roughly 122.2 million ETH tokens. Grok has projected a conservative price target of $4,500 by the end of 2027, which would translate to a market cap of around $549.7 billion at the existing supply level. In a more optimistic scenario, Grok suggests a target of $8,000, implying a market cap of approximately $977.2 billion. However, it's worth noting that this bullish projection still falls short of Bitcoin's (BTC) current market value of $1.65 trillion.

It is important to keep in mind that Ethereum does not have a fixed maximum supply, meaning that any new issuance could influence the market cap required to reach the $4,500 target. The all-time high for ETH was $4,946, recorded on August 24, 2025, and the cryptocurrency is currently trading at a significant 51.3% discount from that peak.

In terms of trading strategy, Grok estimates that an investment of $2,400 at a price of $2,388 would yield approximately 1.005 ETH. However, there is also a risk factor to consider; Grok estimates a 25% to 30% probability that ETH could decline to $1,800 or lower by the end of the year. Should ETH reach $2,000, its market cap would decrease to about $244.3 billion.

In the broader market, recent trends indicate that spot Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have experienced significant net outflows, totaling $225 million over just four days. Additionally, BlackRock has transferred $93 million in ETH to Coinbase Prime, which some analysts interpret as a signal of potential redemptions.

The delay of the Glamsterdam project has also impacted Grok's short-term outlook, reducing its probability of upside by five points. Furthermore, the implied volatility of ETH has surged to 49%, placing it in the 90th percentile over the past two years.

Overall, while there are bullish projections for Ethereum in the long term, current market conditions and Grok's analysis suggest that investors should approach any purchases with caution, particularly at prices above $2,400.
